Firstly I'd like to congratulate the fine people of Aveda who continue to sucessfully peddle food dye as permanent hair colouring. I get a little chuckle on the inside when the well meaning hair dresser won't shut up about how all natural and gentle it is - and its like thats terrific but it should be chemically based enough that it doesnt disolve in water. But thats just me - maybe my hair is special.
Otherwise it was actually pretty cool, I was having one of those days where an up pep is required and there was an ad for an emergency model wanted on gumtree. So I was always going to call them. And the colour is good. Probably a little on the dark side at first but I've washed it so its about half a shade lighter (this is what I mean about food dye.... it shouldnt wash out so quick!).
Again I should give the guy credit... he was a first year and he really was trying his little heart out but oh the blow dry.... was painful. I was sorta over it about 20 mins in but figured just sit really still and it will be over soon. Turns out I was wrong, pins and needles set in at about 45 mins and by 80 I couldnt feel my butt. I'll say one thing for someone who was trying so hard... not alot of sucess. He managed to burn me with the heat from the hairdrier, use the wrong brush about 6 times (who knew there were 6 different brushes you could use), you couldnt actually talk to him cause he had this look of intense concentration the whole time. I was sorta scared to interrupt his flow.... anyway when it hit 70 mins or so he went to get his instructor who just said, yeah.... its over..... and sorta cleaned it up as best he could. I got home and washed it out cause somehow he'd manage to make the weird little kink in my fringe look even more noticeable and I dont know how to describe it.... just felt weird after all that heat and product.
Well looking forward to Toni & Guy in a couple of weeks. It is my hair happy place :)
